Navigating Vaccine Equity: What NYC's Strategy Tells Us


As countries came together at the World Health Organization in Geneva last month to discuss lessons from COVID-19 and how to respond to the next Disease X, our CEO, Nina Schwalbe's, new study in The New York Academy of Medicine's Journal of Urban Health shows that New York’s vaccine strategy failed to prevent COVID-19 deaths among the most vulnerable.  

  

The analysis with co-authors Daniel Reidpath, Marta Nunes, Brian Wahl and Clare Cutland, provides clear evidence to inform vaccine distribution efforts in the US and around the world: when supplies are limited, pursuing an equity-based strategy and focusing on high-risk groups saves lives.
