It seems like we may be subject to “shelter in place” in NYC following the example of France and other countries – and inspired by a paper by Imperial college which was not peer reviewed but embraced by Donald Trump and Boris Johnson.
It is difficult to understand how models area realised with no or little information about uncertainty estimates or limitations. But seems like the authors had the attention of our leaders. Here an article that explains why this may not be the best approach. But our leaders have spoken.
You all may have more up to date information on exactly what this means yet for NYC. In the meantime, thought it might be interesting to see what it looks like in San Francisco. And what it looks like in France. Thankfully we are not doing this Wuhan style (yet). Here is a story on the global trends in trying to get people to stay put.
